We had one run off with an arrow and when we kicked him up he went straight for the water!! Good thing we had a dog and very lucky the arrow fell out just before he ran into the water! They swim surprisingly well! Doesn't make for a good picture but a great story for this young man!

That IS awesome Jeff! Sometimes a harvested bird is just business as usual, but when there is a great story like that, it adds an exciting element to the imagination!

    cheers

Hundreds of thousands turkeys harvested each year and you might have the only tom water retrieved by a dog. Story worth sharing with NWTF.
Incredible. The other dry land bird looks like a Merriam. Was the swimmer a Rio or Merriam? Thanks for sharing..

Excellent story to last a lifetime Jeff. Swing by for a beer if you hit the Greenbelt this spring and tell me the story.

I have never heard of a water retrieve by a Dog to fetch a Turkey until today. That will most likely go down as the story of the year on this site. Great story and nice birds cheers

Don't sell yourself short Gary - I would lay 10 to 1 odds that Kevin will come up with the story of the year and you will be the protagonist. cheers

I was so confused by this picture. It took me a second to even see the wet turkey fan of the bird on the left.
